The roof is a non-negligible part of the RV. It not only provides shelter for the interior of the RV, but also provides the function of installing air conditioners, roof windows, indoor lights, and solar panels. The roof of the RV is exposed to the hot sun, rain, hail and other weather conditions for a long time, so it is vulnerable to damage and causes problems such as collapse and water leakage. The choice of how to produce the roof is particularly important for caravan manufacturers, which is not only related to the quality of the finished product but also means the control of cost expenditure.

Application of One-piece FRP Foam Composite Panels in RV Roofs

Currently, on the market, the overall structure of the caravan with timbers or aluminum frames, the roof and the wall panels are all integral and inseparable. Although this ensures the stability and strength of the RV body, it greatly increases the weight of the RV body and the difficulty of repair, and the construction cost is higher. Features of RV Roof Panels in TOPOLO-RV

☑ Lightweight
XPS or PU foam with a density of 25~50kg/m³ is used as the core material, and the density of the FRP skin is between 1.4~2.1g/cm³.

☑ Waterproof
The outermost material of the roof of the RV is a gelcoat FRP sheet. The gelcoat has good weather resistance and can completely isolate water vapor and general chemicals.

☑ High-temperature resistance
In order to increase the high-temperature resistance of the roof, we added high-temperature resistant heat insulation materials inside the panels.

☑ Strong
The thickness of the roof composite panel can reach more than 10cm. Rigid purlins (aluminum tubes, FRP tubes, PVC square bars, etc.) will be embedded inside the RV roof to increase strength.

Only glue, screw screws and aluminum extrusion edges are required to connect the roof panel to the wall panel (one-piece composite panel).

☑ Reserved locations
Reserve locations for air conditioners, roof windows, chandeliers, wiring, and solar panel fixing points in advance.

How to Design a Curved RV Front and Rear?

Not all RV tops are straight, more tend to have a curved design, especially at the front and rear of the RV where corners are required. Many manufacturers will consider using molds to produce curved FRP parts, which is expensive and the thickness of FRP products is thin, which is obviously not conducive to heat preservation. We use a simpler and more efficient processing method: we cut grooves of a certain depth and width (according to the curvature of the composite panel) on the FRP composite panel to make the curved panel we want.
